Moving On

Change: When one decides to move away from a much loved home in a place filled with myriad memories, rich history, and vital community, there are, of course, mixed feelings. These can range from raw terror to joyful excitement: terror at the uncertainties any future holds; excitement about the prospect of new adventures. This is heightened as one enters the latter stages of life. However, in this era, communities are fluid and far flung. One cannot hold back because others do. One cannot remain stationary when the world about you is moving at a dizzying pace. The only certainty is change. One can manage it; but one should not resist it. The only steadfastness one should strive for is internal. If we are grounded in ourselves, then we can withstand “the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune” just as much as we can embrace the warm glow of fresh opportunity. So after 24 wonderful years, we are moving on. Let the future begin.
